Kano state governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has signed into law, the 2014 appropriation bill, in the tune of N215, 148,755,955 billion, after passage by the state House of Assembly.
Shortly after signing the budget today, Wednesday, in the presence of some lawmakers, during the State Executive Council meeting at Government House, Kano, Gov. Kwankwaso pointed out that 90 percent of the budget would be utilized to complete on-going projects while only 10 percent will be devoted to new projects.
According to him, 67 percent of the budget or N154,027,330,235 was approved for capital projects while 33 percent amounting to N71,121,425,720 was set aside for recurrent expenses.
The governor noted with appreciation the public hearing conducted on the budget which had added value to it, adding that the legislators must also be commended for budget passage on time.
It could be recalled that on 24th December, 2013, Gov. Kwankwaso presented the 2014 appropriation bill in the sum of N219, 281,273,481, which was tagged “Budget of Consolidation 2014”, to the House of Assembly for deliberation and passage.
Meanwhile, Governor Kwankwaso has received Awards of Excellent Performance from Arewa Consultative Forum, Aviation College, South Africa and Association of Social Workers of Nigeria.
Receiving three awards, the governor described them as an honour not only to him but to his cabinets and people of the state.
He further thanked the organizations for acknowledging the socio-economic development instituted in the state by his administration.
The ACF award was presented before the state Executive Council by his deputy, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who represented the governor at the award presentation in Kaduna state.
Also, the Aviation College of South Africa awards was brought to the Kwankwaso by one of the college’s instructors, Ibrahim Sharif, an indigene of Kano state, while that of the Association of Social Workers of Nigeria was presented by its president, Mr. Olawale K. Nathaniel.
In related development, Governor Kwankwaso has received management of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Plc (PAN) who paid him a courtesy visit and presented samples of their products for possible patronage.
