Nigeria’s VAT Revenue Increases to N2.28trn in Q3 2025

Nigeria’s Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue rose to N2.28 trillion in the third quarter of 2025, marking a 10.66% increase from N2.06 trillion in the previous quarter, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The figure was disclosed in the Sectorial Distribution of VAT Q3 2025 report published on Tuesday. On a year-on-year basis, VAT collections grew by 28.10% compared to Q3 2024.

“Value Added Tax (VAT in Q3 2025 was N2.28 trillion, showing an increase of 10.66% on a quarter-on-quarter basis,” the NBS report stated.

Local VAT payments dominated at N1.12 trillion, while foreign VAT payments contributed N680.23 billion and import VAT added N479.79 billion.

Administrative and support service activities recorded the highest growth rate at 89.28%, followed by arts, entertainment and recreation at 82.49%, and human health and social work activities at 32.40%.

Conversely, real estate activities had the lowest growth rate at –51.33%, followed by household employer activities at –36.22%, and other service activities at –20.30%.

In terms of sectoral contributions, manufacturing led with 25.89%, followed by information and communication at 18.77%, and mining and quarrying at 14.85%.

Household employer activities recorded the lowest share at 0.003%, while extraterritorial organisations and water supply, sewerage, and waste management each contributed just 0.03%.
