FG to Deploy 10,000 Tractors in Fresh Push for Food Security

‎The Federal Government will deploy 10,000 tractors over the next five years as part of efforts to modernise agriculture, boost food production and strengthen food security across the country, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced.

‎The President made the disclosure in his Democracy Day address on Friday, highlighting agriculture as a critical pillar of the administration’s economic growth strategy.

‎Tinubu said the initiative would be implemented through the National Agricultural Development Fund and is aimed at increasing mechanisation, improving productivity and supporting farmers nationwide.

‎The programme comes as the government intensifies efforts to tackle food inflation and improve agricultural output.

‎According to the President, expanding food production remains a key priority of his administration as it seeks to reduce the cost of living and improve economic conditions for Nigerians.

‎He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting farmers through policies and investments designed to enhance productivity and strengthen the agricultural value chain.

‎Analysts say the tractor deployment programme could significantly improve farm efficiency, particularly among smallholder farmers, while contributing to greater food availability and rural economic growth.

‎Tinubu noted that agriculture remains central to the administration’s efforts to create jobs, stimulate economic activity and achieve sustainable prosperity.
