‎S/Arabia Envoy Backs NAHCON on 2026 Hajj

‎The Saudi Ambassador to Nigeria, Yousef Albalawi, has pledged to strengthen collaboration with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to ensure a seamless and successful 2026 Hajj operation for Nigerian pilgrims.

‎Albalawi gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by the Chairman of NAHCON, Amb. Ismail Yusuf, to the Saudi Embassy in Abuja, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhanced diplomatic and operational coordination ahead of the pilgrimage.

‎The envoy emphasized Saudi Arabia’s readiness to work closely with Nigerian authorities to facilitate smooth visa processing, effective logistics coordination and strict compliance with Hajj regulations. He noted that early engagement and structured communication between both countries would help prevent last-minute bottlenecks and guarantee a hitch-free exercise.

‎Earlier, Yusuf said the commission had already initiated high-level diplomatic engagements with Saudi officials as part of proactive preparations for the 2026 Hajj. He disclosed that NAHCON had commenced inspection of facilities in Saudi Arabia to ensure the comfort, safety and welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.

‎According to him, the commission is prioritising strategy alignment, regulatory compliance, quota management, visa processing, IT interconnectivity and broader bilateral collaboration to streamline operations. He added that NAHCON had, within the past week, held three separate virtual meetings with Saudi authorities focused on operational readiness.

‎The renewed partnership underscores a shared commitment by both countries to sustain longstanding cooperation in Hajj administration and to deliver a spiritually fulfilling and logistically seamless pilgrimage experience for Nigerians in 2026.
