Nigeria Among Top 10 Contributors to Global GDP Growth in 2026 — IMF

‎Nigeria has been ranked among the top 10 contributors to global real GDP growth in 2026, according to new figures released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

‎IMF data shows that Nigeria will account for 1.5 per cent of global economic growth in 2026, placing it eighth on the global ranking of countries driving world output expansion.

‎The list is led by China, which is projected to contribute 26.6 per cent to global growth, followed by India (17.0 per cent) and the United States (9.9 per cent).

‎Other countries ahead of Nigeria include Indonesia (3.8 per cent), Türkiye (2.2 per cent), Saudi Arabia (1.7 per cent) and Vietnam (1.6 per cent).

‎Nigeria shares the eighth position with Brazil, which also posted a 1.5 per cent contribution, while Germany rounds off the top ten with 0.9 per cent.

‎Economic analysts note that Nigeria’s ranking highlights the rising role of emerging economies in driving global growth, with Africa’s largest economy benefiting from its large domestic market, expanding services sector, and ongoing economic reforms.

‎The IMF figures further underscore a gradual shift in global growth momentum from traditional advanced economies toward emerging and developing markets.
