Nigeria at 65: ‘Economic Sacrifices Paying Off’ – Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that the sacrifices Nigerians have endured in recent months are paying off, stressing that the nation is emerging stronger as it marks 65 years of independence.
In his broadcast to the nation on Wednesday, Tinubu acknowledged the hardship faced by citizens but said the reforms embarked upon by his administration were already turning the tide.
“Reforms are never easy, but they are necessary. The sacrifices we are making today are laying the groundwork for a future of growth, stability and prosperity. Nigeria is out of the woods. The worst is behind us,” he said.
The President pointed to lower inflation, stronger reserves and a stabilising exchange rate as evidence that the economy was responding positively. He praised Nigerians for their resilience, urging them to remain patient as his government deepens efforts to secure inclusive development.
Tinubu further pledged that his administration would not relent in expanding opportunities, creating jobs and safeguarding livelihoods, adding that the journey of national rebirth required collective resolve.
