The German government has declared interest in partnering Nigeria to salvage the recession rocking the country through vocational trainings to provide jobs for the teaming youths, ensure good qualification and through boosting of enterprise in Nigeria.

It said this is necessary considering the rate at which quality of products coming from local factories, work places and artisans has continued to drop, a development that calls for technical expertise to improve the quality of products and services spread across markets in Nigeria.

Addressing participants on the benefits of dual vocational training partnership with Nigeria, the Consul General, Consulate General, Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Ingo Herbert, said the German Dual Vocational Training, a project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, commenced in Nigeria in 2013 to ensure employability and qualification of teeming unemployed youths as well as serve as a tool for achieving greater productivity among the workforce.

He said this at an event organised by delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria which is in collaboration with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Gienssen-Friedberg, Germany. The even pulled together over 60 representatives both from the public and private sectors with various interests in vocational training. Panelists who are experts on vocational training and education spoke on the need to embrace vocational training at this challenging time in Nigeria.

The project is coordinated by the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria in collaboration with the different stakeholders, nationwide which include the Nigerian-German Business Association, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ogun State Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Also present were visiting members of the German Parliament and representatives of the Giessen-Friedberg Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Germany.
