Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has assured Rivers people of more people oriented projects in the state following the commissioning of the first phase of the ultra-modern Mile 1 Market Complex in Port Harcourt.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. George Feyii, Amaechi said the commissioning was a testimony of his administration’s resolve to better the lives of the people and leave enduring projects for Rivers people.

“It is not in the character of this administration to leave any project uncompleted, no matter who started the project.”

While praising the traders for their patient, Amaechi noted that the delay in delivering the project was due to some structural defects and that after an earlier visit to the complex he directed it should be corrected.

He expressed hope that the complex would promote commerce, hence the resolve of his administration not to leave such project in the hands of the local government authorities.

The Rivers State governor also restated the resolve of his administration to reduce the plight of the people, stressing that it remained poised to promote education and health.

He enjoined the traders to use the facility with care and ensure it was well maintained.
The governor promised to address the request made by the chairman of the Market Traders Association for the quick execution of the second and third phases of the market.
