The Nigeria LNG has recorded $6.8 billion in revenue for the year 2015, as contained in the ‘Facts and Figures on NLNG 2016.’
Te figures represented shortfall of 40 per cent when compared with 2014 revenue which was $10.8 billion.
During the presentation of the document in Lagos on Tuesday, the Managing Director /Chief Executive Officer, NLNG, Mr Babs Omotowa, blamed the decline in revenue on decline in global crue prices.
He however stated that despite the challenges, the company remains the highest tax paying corporate entity in Nigeria.
“We have paid $3.86 billion in taxes to governments in Nigeria and our PAYE stands at $334 milion since 1999 till data,” he said.
The ‘facts and figures’ showed that the company has paid a total of $15.3 billion as dividend to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) since 2004 while it paid $16.067 billion as dividend to other shareholders including Shell, Total and Eni during the same period.
However, in its efforts to promote local content policy, it has awarded contracts worth $5.053 billion to indigenous contractors for the supply of goods and services since 1999.
NLNG’s subsidiary, Bonny GasTransport (BGT) recently ordered six new Dual Fuel Diesel Engine (DFDE) OMG carriers from Hyundai Heavy Industry and Samsung Heavy Industry.
NLNG said it developed a Memorandupm of Understanding with both companies to train Nigerians, and to allow local companies to supply materials such as paints, cables, abides and furniture for the construction of the vessels and feasibility study for the establishment of a dry-docking and ship-repair yard in Nigeria.
NLNG is owned by NNPC-49 per cent, Shell- 25.6 per cent, Total-15 per cent and Eni-10.4 per cent.
