Buhari Reaffirms Commitment to Achieving Improved Power Supply
President Muhammad has said his administration will work tirelessly to provide consistent power supply to make life easy for Nigerians.
He made the commitment in an interview with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) at the State House Abuja.
The president said no country can achieve sustainable development without power supply and infrastructure.
He said if power is stable, people won’t have to buy generators to run viable businesses.
He said he had let the former Minister of Power, Sabo Nanono, go so that a fresh hand can come in and move the sector forward.
The President however commended the Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, for rebuilding and repairing malfunctioning dams as a way of boosting power supply.
“They are a lot of infrastructure that need to be rehabilitated so that we can make power available. When we make power available there would be less demand for petroleum products and less problems for generators which means there would be less need for foreign exchange to import machines,” the President said.
Buhari added that technology has come to the rescue of Nigeria in terms of solar energy efficiency because conventional power is costly and easily sabotaged, referring to the destruction caused by Boko Haram fighters in Borno and other vandals across the country.
I believe that, the president placed important emphasis on power supply but the problem is from those that are delegate to deliver the work.
