The Port Terminal and Multi-purpose limited, PTML command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, generated N10.16 billion for the month of August 2017 as against N6.284billion in the corresponding period of 2016, representing an increase of 38.14 percent.
The collection, according to the Command’s spokesman, Mr. Mohammed Yakubu, was the highest revenue collection in a single month in the history of the command. Statistical revenue figure made available to Vanguard showed that while N59.556billion was collected in the first eight months of the this year, only N38.690billion was collected in the corresponding period of last year, indicating an increase of 53.9 percent.

A breakdown of the figure also showed that for the month of January 2017, N6.933billion was collected while N4.734billion was collected in 2016. While the month of February 2017 recorded N5.074billion as revenue collected, N3.847 was collected in the same month of the preceding year.
For March and April, N9.036billion and N5.751 was generated in 2017, just as N4.856billion and N4.138 was collected respectively in the period of 2016. In the months of May, June and July of 2017, N6.785billion, N7.166billion, and N8.647 were collected while N4.792billion, N5, 110billion and N4.926billion were collected respectively.
Yakubu also said that with the current trend, the will certainly surpass its revenue target of N75.6billion for 2017
