UK Commends Tinubu’s Economic Reforms, Applauds First Lady’s Initiatives
The United Kingdom has lauded the economic and trade reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing them as bold, brave, and positive steps toward repositioning Nigeria’s economy.
British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at the State House, Abuja.
According to him, the UK government recognizes the opportunities emerging from the “difficult but necessary” economic reforms being implemented by the Tinubu administration. He noted that while the policies may be tough, they are already creating avenues for long-term growth and partnership.
Montgomery further praised the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), championed by the First Lady, as a credible special-purpose vehicle that is delivering real empowerment to women across education, healthcare, and humanitarian services.
He reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Nigeria, particularly in trade, investment, and social development, while acknowledging the resilience of Nigerians during the period of reforms.
