Tinubu’s Reforms Save 27 States from Economic Collapse – Idris
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has credited President Bola Tinubu’s policy reforms with preventing economic collapse in 27 states.
Idris made this statement at a public lecture at the 34th convocation ceremony of the Federal University of Technology, Minna.
The minister noted that prior to May 29, 2023, no fewer than 27 states were struggling to meet basic financial obligations, including the payment of workers’ salaries. However, Tinubu’s reforms have helped reverse this trend.
Idris explained that statutory allocations to the states have increased significantly, reportedly tripling previous levels.
“Statutory allocations to the states have increased significantly, enabling them to clear salary arrears and improve service delivery,” Idris said.
According to the minister, this has enabled the states to clear salary arrears, undertake major infrastructure projects, and improve service delivery to citizens.
He stressed that these gains are the result of deliberate reforms and a focused leadership strategy under Tinubu’s administration.
He emphasized that sustainable national development is unattainable without continuous policy reforms. In his speech, Idris highlighted the importance of youth involvement in national development.
Idris noted that the reforms are creating new opportunities for Nigerian youths, empowering them to contribute more meaningfully to the country’s growth.
He warned that without these interventions, Nigeria would have faced serious economic challenges.
