Tinubu Nominates New Boards for NUPRC, NMDPRA
President Bola Tinubu has nominated new boards for the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
In a statement, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced that Tinubu has requested the Senate to confirm 21 nominees for the boards of these regulatory agencies.
Former Senator Magnus Abe has been nominated as chairman of the NUPRC board, while Adegbite Ebiowei Adeniji, a lawyer with over 30 years of experience in energy and natural resources, has been nominated as chairman of the NMDPRA board.
“Adeniji has over 30 years of experience in energy and natural resources issues. He was a special technical adviser to the Minister of State for Petroleum on upstream and gas until 2018,” the statement reads.
The nominations are part of ongoing reforms in the oil and gas sector, and Tinubu has urged the Senate to expedite action on the confirmation requests.
“All nominees are expected to discharge their duties professionally and responsibly as regulators of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector,” the President said.
