The announcement of Senator Suleiman Makanjuola Ajadi as Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters did not come as a surprise to those who are conversant with the dynamics of Nigerian and especially Kwara State politics. Ajadi was elected as a Senator of the Federal Republic in 1999 representing Kwara South and because of his brilliant representation, his constituents felt he was good enough to represent them again and so, he was in the upper legislative chamber until 2007.
At the Red Chamber, the former Principal Lecturer of Economic and Financial Management at the Kwara State Polytechnic made a great impact through his insightful contributions through debates and committee work. Ajadi was chairman of various committees including that of Culture and Tourism and Sports and Social Development. He was also on various sub-committees on Water Supply, Housing and Maintenance, Lower Niger River Basin Authority among others. He was one of the active members during his tenure at the national assembly.
A committed academician, Suleiman Ajadi began his teaching profession immediately after his National Youth Service when he was offered appointment as an Assistant Lecturer at the Kwara Polytechnic in 1981. He rose through the ranks until 1995 when he was promoted as principal lecturer Economic and Financial Management at the institution. Also, Ajadi was a part-time lecturer at both University of Ilorin and University of Lagos.
The Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State born politician was born on 3rd June 1957 and attended St Martins Catholic School Adio and Alore LGEA Primary School, Ilorin for his elementary education.
He also attended Muslim Council College Babanloma and Lafiaji Secondary School before proceeding to Kwara State College of Technology, which was then affiliated to Cambridge University London.
The holder of Bsc Economics from the University of Ibadan and Masters in Business Administration from University of Ilorin also attended various courses and seminars at home and abroad.
Impressed with his accomplishments as an authority in economic and financial management, the Kwara State Government appointed Ajadi the Commissioner of Finance and Economic development between 1994 and 1995. Aside serving as commissioner, he also was various occasion he was Chairman of Kwara Housing Loan Board, Chairman Kwara State Tenders Board, Chairman of Committee on Funding and Maintenance Ministries and Parastatals and Chairman of Finance sub-Committee Transition Implementation Committee in Kwara State.
Other positions of responsibilities he had held other responsible positions in his home state including Member, Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) and Member National Economic Planning Committee.
The new bridge between the executive and legislative arms of government arms of government is a member of Nigerian Institute of Internal Auditors, Nigerian Institute of Management, Nigerian Economic Society, Institute of Financial Management of Nigeria and Nigeria Institute of Credit Management.
In appreciation of his philanthropic contributions to society, the Rotaract International District 9130, National Association of Kwara State Students, Organisation of Muslim Unity, National Assembly of Nigeria, USAID, Middle Belt Youth forum and Junior Chambers International among others at various times bestowed on Ajadi various awards of honours and fellowships..
In addition, many traditional rulers and organisations who were impressed by his contributions to humanity and the socio-economic development in Nigeria conferred on him chieftaincy titles which include Baba Adinni of Agbamu, Jagunmolu of Fajeromi and Ora Land and Bashorun of Igbaja. He also received Certificate of Honours from the Olu of Warri Delta State and Owa of Eruku and many more.
