Saudi Arabia Opens Hajj Package Booking for Domestic Pilgrims
Saudi Arabia has officially opened the booking phase for domestic pilgrims seeking to perform Hajj this year, with authorities introducing strict payment deadlines and updated cancellation policies to streamline the process.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, which said Saudi citizens and expatriates holding valid residency permits can now select and reserve their Hajj packages after completing the earlier registration phase.
According to the ministry, individuals who registered their data during the initial phase can now choose suitable packages through the Nusuk application or its official website. Payments for the selected packages will be processed electronically via the SADAD system.
The registration phase for domestic pilgrims had earlier commenced on February 23, corresponding with the sixth day of Ramadan, as part of preparations for the annual Islamic pilgrimage.
Officials explained that applicants are required to review the available Hajj packages, select their preferred option, generate a booking invoice and complete payment through the designated platform.
The ministry described the digital process as part of broader efforts to organise pilgrim seating arrangements and ensure equitable access to Hajj opportunities. All procedures, it said, will be conducted electronically through the Nusuk platform.
Authorities also announced tighter payment timelines for pilgrims who secure bookings. Under the new arrangement, pilgrims must complete payment within 72 hours of making a reservation. This deadline will remain in place until May 14, corresponding to the 27th day of Dhul Qada.
However, beginning May 15, the payment window will be reduced to just six hours in a bid to allow more pilgrims the opportunity to secure available slots. Bookings that are not paid for within the stipulated timeframe will be automatically cancelled.
The ministry urged intending pilgrims within Saudi Arabia to promptly finalise their bookings and carefully review package details and contractual terms before confirming their reservations.
In addition, authorities outlined the conditions for cancellations and refunds. According to the ministry, pilgrims may cancel their bookings without deductions before the issuance of the official Hajj permit and up to April 18, which corresponds with Shawwal 30.
After the permit is issued, deductions will apply depending on the date a cancellation request is submitted. No refunds will be granted for cancellations made from May 18, corresponding with the first day of Dhul Hijjah, until the Hajj booking platform closes.
