PRNigeria Fact-Check Validates Video of Gov Uba Sani Praising El-Rufai for Property Acquisitions and Peter Obi’s Angle
A viral video circulating on social media, claiming that Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani described his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai, as “Godsent” and detailed his assistance with property acquisitions and a legal battle against Peter Obi, has been verified as authentic by a PRNigeria fact-check.

The fact-check debunks claims that the video was “AI-manipulated” and confirms that the footage is an unedited recording of a speech delivered by Governor Sani on May 28, 2023.
The video, which has been widely shared on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, shows Governor Sani speaking at the official handover ceremony of the Kaduna State Government’s Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. In the speech, Sani, a long-time political ally of El-Rufai, is heard recounting how El-Rufai, whom he referred to as “Mallam,” assisted him financially.
According to the footage, Sani stated that while he was a tenant in a two-bedroom apartment in Jabi, Abuja, El-Rufai helped him secure a property in the upscale Maitama district. Sani further claimed that El-Rufai even borrowed money from a bank on his behalf to facilitate the acquisition.
The governor also referenced a legal dispute over a land allocation from El-Rufai that led to a case at the Supreme Court involving Peter Obi.
PRNigeria’s analysis concluded that the video is not a deepfake. A forensic examination of the audio and visuals revealed no signs of AI manipulation, such as voice cloning or digital stitching. The synchronisation of Sani’s lip movements and the natural flow of his speech were consistent with a live recording.
Media reports corroborate the fact-check’s findings and a post from Governor Sani’s own verified X (formerly Twitter) account from May 28, 2023, where he acknowledged the historic handover ceremony with his “leader, my boss and elder brother, Governor Nasir El-Rufai.”
The revelations come amid a strained relationship between the two politicians, who have recently traded accusations over the state’s finances. El-Rufai accused his successor of diverting local government funds, while Governor Sani countered that he inherited massive debts from the previous administration.
