PRNigeria Fact-Check Debunks Viral Hotel Room Video of “Cheating Wife and Driver” as Scripted Skit

A viral video claiming to show a man catching his wife cheating with their driver in a hotel room has been confirmed to be entirely staged, not a real-life incident, PRNigeria has revealed.

The widely circulated clip, which sparked outrage and emotional reactions across Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and WhatsApp, features a dramatic scene where a man—seemingly tipped off—confronts his wife and her alleged lover, the family driver, in a hotel room. One caption widely shared on WhatsApp reads: “WHO IS TO BE TRUSTED..??? INNALLILLAHI-WA-INNA-ILLAIHI-RAJIUN – PLS. THIS IS A MUST WATCH VIDEO..!!!”

The Arabic phrase “Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un,” often used by Muslims in moments of grief or shock, was included to convey the supposed emotional gravity of the betrayal. Viewers flooded comment sections with expressions of disbelief and condemnation. One viral comment captured the mood: “It’s not enough that he drives the man’s car, he’s also driving his wife?”

However, a thorough investigation by the PRNigeria Fact-Check Desk has established that the video is not an authentic exposé but a scripted performance created by a social media comedian.

Using reverse image search tools and frame-by-frame forensic analysis, PRNigeria traced the original clip to the first week of July 2025. The supposed “guide” in the video, who leads the man into the hotel room, was identified as Mumin Nuhu, a content creator known by the screen name “The Honour”, with over 10,000 followers on Instagram and 1.1 million on Facebook.

The video in question is one of his numerous relationship-themed skits dramatizing infidelity, betrayal, and emotional confrontation. It has amassed over a million views, 8,200 shares, and more than 3,300 comments on Facebook alone. PRNigeria found that The Honour has a consistent style of producing emotionally provocative, yet fictional, content to engage social media audiences.

Conclusion:

The video circulating on social media does not depict a real-life case of infidelity involving a wife and her driver. It is a dramatized skit created for entertainment purposes by a professional content creator.

Verdict: False. The viral footage is not based on a true story.
