He would make an honorable entry in the archives of Texas as he would be commissioned by Texas Governor Perry as an Admiral in Texas Navy based on recognition of his Texas/Dallas community service. He is the first Black to be so recognized. By Fall 2012, a scholarship in his name would also be endowed by a group of Dallas business men at the University of North Texas, Denton, in recognition of his service. 

Yobe Distributes Free Grains To Widows, Orphans, Others

Yobe State government has distributed 500 bags of assorted grains to widows, orphans and the disabled in the state. Governor Gaidam said that the grains were procured at the cost of N6,000 per bag during the last harvest season when the cost was N3000, adding that “the intention was to encourage farmers to sustain production, stabilize food prices and avoid unnecessary exploitation by middlemen.” 

Oyo Uncovers N2.68bn Pension Fraud

Oyo State government has uncovered a pension fraud totalling N2.68 billion in its Local Government Pension Board. The amount represented the figure so far established in an ongoing investigation of withdrawal of state funds between September 2010 and March 2011, the build-up period to the last general election.

Kwara Distributes N268m Soft Loan To Artisans, Traders

The Kwara State government has disbursed N268.6 million to 3,740 artisans and small business owners under its Micro-Credit Intervention Scheme for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises.The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Communication, Dr. Muideen Akorede, said the amount represented the first tranche of the N500 million intervention launched by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed last April.
