Govt Delighted over ICAN- ANAN Relationship

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Isa Bello Sali has expressed delight that the main professional accountancy bodies in Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) now relate cordially and are cooperating with each other to move the profession forward.

Again Cross River Replies Akwa-Ibom over 76 Oil Wells

The Cross River State Commissioner for Information Chief Akin Ricketts, as well as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Attah Ochinke, in a joint release said the spate of statements issued by the Government of Akwa Ibom State following the Supreme Court ruling over the 76 oil wells, ceded to it, is a sign of a man begging for public sympathy over an unjust Judicial victory and a vain attempt to divert spontaneous public condemnation of the Supreme Court’s verdict in the 76 oil wells.

CBN and the Ostrich

Last week, CBN’s Monetary Policy Committee agreed to keep the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) at 12%, but decided to increase commercial banks’ Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) from 8 – 12%. In the aftermath of this decision, CBN accused the Money Deposit Banks of not lending to the real sector. CBN governor, Lamido Sanusi decried the reality that “rather than lend to the real economy, the banks have continued to take advantage of the high yields of government securities to direct credit away from the core private sector.”

Engr. Ezekiel Olajide Adeniji is currently the Chairman of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA). A Nigerian through-through whose working life was in Hausa-Fulani communities in the North, married to an Igbo Woman from South-East and was born and brought up in Yoruba land in the South-West. He speaks many Nigerian languages. A graduate of Civil Engineering from University of Ife, Engr. Adeniji has Masters from University of Lagos, on Project Management and a Phd from St. Clement University, British West Indies.
