NITDA, NBC Move to Deepen Collaboration on Digital Transformation, Regulatory Alignment
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) have initiated steps to strengthen collaboration aimed at accelerating digital transformation and aligning regulatory frameworks across Nigeria’s media and technology sectors.
This followed a meeting in Abuja where the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, hosted his NBC counterpart, Charles Ebuebu, to explore areas of inter-agency cooperation critical to the modernisation of Nigeria’s broadcasting and digital ecosystem.
Discussions at the meeting focused on empowering local media organisations through technology, enhancing knowledge transfer, expanding cultural impact, and updating regulatory approaches to reflect emerging digital realities.
Inuwa said NITDA was prepared to support NBC’s transformation agenda by sharing its digital transformation playbook, offering tailored capacity-building programmes and deploying digital literacy initiatives for NBC staff.
He added that NITDA would also provide technical expertise to assist the broadcasting regulator in reviewing and updating its regulatory frameworks to keep pace with rapid technological changes.
The collaboration, both agencies noted, is expected to strengthen institutional capacity, promote innovation within the media sector and ensure that regulation evolves in line with Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
