Stella George, DTM, Becomes Nigeria’s First Female Club Growth Director of Toastmasters International District 130
In a groundbreaking development for public speaking and leadership in Africa, Nigerian banker and leadership expert, Stella George, DTM, has been elected as the first female Club Growth Director for Toastmasters International District 130, which spans 12 countries across West and Central Africa.
The historic election took place during the District 130 Annual Conference in May 2025, drawing participants from across the region and notable dignitaries, including the Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Niger. The event marked a major milestone for gender inclusion and leadership within the global Toastmasters community.
Toastmasters International, a century-old, non-profit educational organization, is renowned for helping individuals develop communication and leadership skills through thousands of clubs worldwide. District 130 is one of its most dynamic regions in Africa.
George, who previously served as Division E Director, was unanimously hailed as the most outstanding candidate. She was earlier recognized as Best Division Director in West and Central Africa in 2023, underscoring her consistent record of excellence and visionary leadership.
In her new role, George will spearhead the growth and establishment of new Toastmasters clubs, while driving membership expansion across the district. Her election marks a significant step not only for Nigeria but for the broader African continent in the journey toward inclusive and empowered leadership.
