Nigeria Seals UAE Deal to Expand Digital Education for Millions of Youths

Nigeria has taken a significant step toward strengthening digital learning and youth empowerment through a new partnership with the UAE Digital School.

The agreement, sealed on Monday in Dubai, aims to widen access to digital education and hands-on skills training for millions of young Nigerians.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Nigeria’s Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, and Dr Waleed Al Ali, who leads the UAE Digital School under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.

The collaboration builds on earlier discussions held in July 2025 with senior government officials and development partners in the United Arab Emirates.

Olawande described the partnership as a strategic boost to Nigeria’s long term ambition to prepare its youth for the demands of the global digital economy.

He said the initiative goes beyond a formal agreement, adding that it reflects a shared commitment to equip Nigerian youths with the knowledge and opportunities needed to compete in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

During the signing ceremony, the minister expressed gratitude to the UAE authorities for what he called their hospitality, leadership, and sustained contribution to global development efforts.

He noted that the partnership represents progress not just for Nigeria, but also for young people across both nations.

According to Olawande, “What we celebrate today goes beyond Nigeria, it stands as a symbol of shared responsibility, shared progress, and shared hope for the youth of both nations.”

He also extended appreciation to Sapphital Limited, the technical partner supporting the initiative, as well as his team at the Federal Ministry of Youth Development for their dedication in bringing the agreement to fruition.

The minister expressed confidence that the collaboration will produce measurable outcomes, especially in bridging digital literacy gaps, enhancing access to quality learning tools, and improving employability among young Nigerians.

The partnership is expected to roll out a range of digital learning opportunities, including technology based courses, capacity development programmes, and practical training aimed at preparing youths for jobs in the global digital marketplace.
