Nigeria, UAE Firms Seal $200m Defence Tech Deal

Nigeria is set to attract $200m in investment through a new partnership between Nigus International Investment Limited and UAE-based Elmirate Investment LLC (Elmirate Capital).

The two firms signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a next-generation technology and advanced manufacturing platform in Nigeria.

The initiative will focus on defence technology, cybersecurity capabilities, and satellite infrastructure, strengthening Nigeria’s domestic defence production and expanding its digital security systems.

Executive Chairman of Nigus International, Prince Malik Ado-Ibrahim, said the project reflects Africa’s growing recognition of the link between technology, economic strength, and national security.

“Africa is entering a pivotal phase in its development, where technological capability will increasingly define economic strength and national security,” Ado-Ibrahim stated.

The partnership is expected to boost Nigeria’s capacity in space technologies, enhance resilience against cyber threats, and support industrial development.

Officials noted that the collaboration will also position Nigeria as a stronger player in the global defence and technology ecosystem, while creating opportunities for local talent and innovation.

The MoU signals a broader push by Nigeria to attract foreign investment into strategic sectors that can drive long-term growth and security.
