Nigeria, Indonesia Commit to Trade, Investment Partnerships

Nigeria and Indonesia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with a focus on economic cooperation, institutional partnerships, and sustainable development.

The pledge came during a courtesy visit by Indonesia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Bambang Suharto, to the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning in Abuja.

The meeting was chaired by Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, alongside Minister of State Dr. Doris Uzoka‑Anite and Permanent Secretary Dr. Deborah Odoh, with senior officials from both countries present.

Welcoming the delegation, Odoh described the visit as a reflection of the enduring partnership between Nigeria and Indonesia, anchored on mutual respect and shared aspirations for inclusive growth within the Global South.

Ambassador Suharto expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed Indonesia’s dedication to enhancing its longstanding ties with Nigeria.

He highlighted trade and investment, budget management, economic diversification, and capacity building as priority areas of cooperation.

Responding, Bagudu praised the growing strength of bilateral ties and emphasised Nigeria’s interest in learning from Indonesia’s economic transformation into a $1.4 trillion economy. He noted that Nigeria is progressing with the implementation of its 2026–2030 National Development Plan.

Officials from both sides agreed that closer collaboration would help unlock opportunities for sustainable development, job creation, and stronger economic resilience.
