Kaduna Proposes N196.7bn for 2010 Budget

altGovernor Mohammed Namadi Sambo of Kaduna State has presented a budget proposal of the sum of N196.7 billion to the state House Assembly for the 2010.
 
The governor said “In putting together the 2010 budget, a lot of considerations were made with regard to resources accruing to the state. This includes funds from the federation account or statutory allocations, internally generated revenue and other sources,”
The budget which is named “Budget of empowerment and progress” is more than that of last year by about N43 billion, according to the governor would focus on education, transport, health, power and agriculture, has a recurrent expenditure of N42.7 billion and a capital expenditure of N153.9 billion.
 
Arch. Sambo explained that one percent of the capital budget would be used for the support of the Federal Government’s initiative for the establishment of micro-finance banks in the state to ensure that financial services are made available for low-income earners. While commending the members of the state House of Assembly for the cordial relationship exiting between them and his administration, he pledged to continue with his free medical treatment for pregnant women and children under five years and reiterated the commitment of his administration to the completion of the 300-bed specialist hospital, a project currently going on in the state.
