Former President of the Nigerian Football Federation and the Proprietor of FOSLA Academy, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi has advocated a compulsory girl-child education as part of deliberate effort towards the nation’s development agenda.
Lulu stated this at the 80th birthday ceremony of his mother, Hajia Laraba Abdullahi (Omiyalele Obaje Adaka of Igala Kingdom) and Book Presentation of his mother’s autobiography in Abuja.
Sani Lulu , who poured encomiums on Hajia Laraba noted that the octogenarian singlehandedly trained her three children after the demise of their father having passed through many challenges, including self sponsoship in her educational career.
The book presented was titled “African Woman of Virtue: Hajia Laraba Abdulahi-an Autobiography, contains 13 chapters and 77 pages where she shared experience of her knowledge as a forward-looking personality.
In the book, Hajia Laraba emphasised the need for girl-child education as valuable tool for societal development, adding that her doggedness and education made her formidable in the training of her children to become successful in the society.
The Octogenarian also expressed appreciation to those who were with her in the trying times, noting that her father died when she was 10 years old, yet she struggled to be educated. “no parents should joke with their girl-child education”, she added.
In the high point of the occasion. Hajia Abdullahi gave a scholarship to Wosila Alhassan to cover her junior and senior secondary education at FOSLA Academy to mark her 80th birthday anniversary.
