…appeals for public support
In commemoration of the 2017 International Day of the girl-child, a non governmental organization, Evergreen initiative has donated 150 sanitary pads, books, drinks and cake for school girls.
The initiative led by its president, Alli-Bob Cinwon made the donation to female students of Government Girls Secondary School, Durumi, Abuja.
Speaking recently at the maiden edition of the Abuja based NGO campaign ‘Girlcare Nigeria’, Alli-Bob said the campaign to provide them with sanitary pads was because the initiative was targeting at promoting a safe hygiene for girls.
“This campaign was birthed to provide a mindset transformation for young girls in the grassroots making them understand there are many opportunities to be harnessed as girls in the society more than just getting married and staying in the kitchen.
“Alongside this mindset transformation, we distribute relevant books, handouts and sanitary towels to these girls, If we can distribute condoms for free why can’t we all work together to make sanitary pads available for these girls?
“You can join us on this mission as a supporter, partner, or donor as we seek to be the team that makes a difference”, the statement concluded.
