Network Expansion our Priority in 2019-KEDCO Boss
Network expansion would be a major priority in 2019, says the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Dr Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna (Sardaunan Gombe).

He said KEDCO has concluded plans to expand power networks in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States to improve distribution and quality of supply in 2019.
Gwamna, who made this revelation to newsmen in Kano said this was necessary to improve access to electricity and quality of power supply to more people within the states under KEDCO.
He said that in 2018, there was an improvement of power distribution as a result of the expansion of power network and quality of supply with route length spanning 106 KM, adding that more of this expansion would be the priority in 2019 to improve distribution and quality of power supply to numerous KEDCO customers.
“In the area of network expansion for the purpose of improving distribution of power, we have added 51800 KVA with a length route of 33.72KM (33KV) and 17.86KM (11KV) and 55.4 KM (0.415KV).
“This was done to improve power distribution and quality of power supply and our customers have felt the impact both for domestic and industrial purposes. This has served in growing key industries in Kano and others states which impacted in sustainability of more industries in the states.
“We are on course to ensure we maintain the winning formula by expanding our power networks in 2019. This when completely executed will lay a solid foundation for quality in power distribution and guarantee more access to electricity in more rural areas,’’ he said.
The KEDCO boss said that the company also added in the network for improvement in quality of supply, a total number of 191 distribution transformers including dedicated and public in 2018, adding that this would be replicated in the New Year.
Dr Gwamna stressed that with this improvement of networks, it would be easier to achieve the target of expanding the customer benchmark in 2019. He added: “ We have set a target of 508,000 by March and 1,000,000 by the end of 2019.’’
He appealed to customers and host communities to give the necessary supports to KEDCO to serve them better in 2019.
