The budget which the governor tagged, ‘Budget of Sustainable Socio-economic Transformation,’ will seek to sustain the socio-economic transformation of Yobe State which started in May 2007 and take it to a greater height as well as  enhance the status of education, create more employment opportunities for people, enhance multi-sectoral development and continue to encourage communities to imbibe the spirit of self-help as a way of sustaining and complementing government efforts.

The governor said, “the budget is expected to be financed from the statutory allocation of N31.9 billion and internally-generated revenue of N3.1 billion out of which N39,168,226,000 or 61 per ent will be devoted to capital expenditure, while N25,095,774,000 or 39 per- cent will be devoted to recurrent expenditure.”

Meanwhile in another development,  Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State presented N127.78 billion for 2011 budget to the state’s House of Assembly which is a seven per cent increasecompare to that of 2010.

Lamido said the 2011 proposed budget was anchored on the objective and priorities of the various sectoral medium term sector strategies, which, in turn, were derived from the state’s Comprehensive Development Framework (CDF).

He stated that N40.5 billion, representing over 52 per cent total of the budget, was for recurrent expenditure, while N35.75, representing 45per cent, was for capital expenditure.
