FG Launches Free Financial Literacy Programme for 10m Nigerians

‎The Federal Government on Monday launched a free nationwide training programme aimed at equipping 10 million Nigerians with financial inclusion and literacy skills.

‎The initiative, being implemented by the Office of the Vice President through the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI), is designed to empower Nigerians, particularly women and youths, with essential financial management skills, investment knowledge, and digital competencies required for sustainable wealth creation.

‎PreCEFI, which is chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, is driving the programme as part of broader efforts to deepen financial inclusion, boost enterprise development, and strengthen participation in Nigeria’s formal economy.

‎As part of the rollout, the Office of the Vice President, through PreCEFI, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with six leading professional bodies to jointly design training curricula, certification pathways, digital skills initiatives, and mentorship platforms.

‎The partnership is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s financial and enterprise workforce while expanding access to credible, industry-aligned financial education across the country.

‎The professional bodies involved are the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), the National Institute of Credit Administration (NICA), the Chartered Risk Management Institute (CRMI), and the Nigeria Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NIIE).
