The Emir of Kano, His Highness, Alhaji Ado Bayero has expressed satisfaction over the performance of Central Bank Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi since his assumption of duty some years ago.
The Emir lamented the state of the Nigeria’s economy in the recent past and maintained that the current leadership of the Bank has brought transparency in the financial system which plays a leading role in the Nigeria’s economy.
The royal father while receiving the CBN Governor on condolence visit in his palace, also commended the leadership of the Bank on several initiatives in the critical sectors of the economy all aimed at revamping the financial sector. According to the Emir, these initiatives and interventions by the Bank have transformed the economy in the last couple of years. He added that the several national and International awards won by the Governor are clear attestation of his hard work and dedication to duty and admonished him not to relent in that direction.
The Emir thanked the Governor and the entire delegation for their concern over the unfortunate incident in Kano and prayed that such should not happen again not only in Kano but anywhere in the country.
Earlier, the CBN Governor Mallam Sanusi, told the Emir that the delegation was in Kano to commiserate with the Emir and the people of Kano over the recent incident of Boko Haram attacks in kano metropolis. He prayed for the repose of the souls of all those who died during the attacks and prayed that such a thing would not happen again.
In the delegation with the Governor were all the four Deputy Governors of the Bank, some Departmental Directors and other top Executives of the Bank.
About 200 persons were killed in the multiple explosions that rocked Kano metropolis on Friday January 20, 2012 from attacks by suspected Boko Haram fighters. Many more were injured and are receiving medical attention at various hospitals while public institutions including police stations and vehicles were seriously damaged.
