FAAC Shares ₦6trn with States, LGAs in H1 2025
The Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursed over ₦6 trillion to Nigeria’s 36 states and 774 local governments between January and June 2025, according to newly released figures. The allocations reflect significant regional disparities, with oil-producing South-South states and Lagos topping the charts.
The South-South emerged as the highest-earning region, receiving a total of ₦1.56 trillion in combined allocations. Rivers State led with ₦374.56 billion, followed closely by Delta with ₦368.75 billion and Akwa Ibom with ₦309.15 billion. Bayelsa received ₦259.94 billion, while Edo and Cross River got ₦138.34 billion and ₦106.34 billion, respectively.
In the South-West, states received a total of ₦1.14 trillion. Lagos State topped not just the region but the nation with ₦464.51 billion. Oyo followed with ₦196.23 billion, trailed by Ondo with ₦138.71 billion, Osun ₦133.29 billion, Ogun ₦108.88 billion, and Ekiti ₦97.73 billion.
North-West states jointly received ₦1.13 trillion. Kano led the zone at ₦250.76 billion, followed by Katsina with ₦182.11 billion and Jigawa with ₦157.29 billion. Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara received ₦150.58 billion, ₦141.32 billion, ₦133.11 billion, and ₦115.48 billion, respectively.
The North-Central zone got a total of ₦799.05 billion, led by Benue with ₦152.67 billion, Niger ₦148.02 billion, and Kogi ₦134.82 billion. Other beneficiaries included the FCT with ₦119.06 billion, Plateau ₦119.00 billion, Kwara ₦110.00 billion, and Nassarawa ₦102.70 billion.
In the North-East, FAAC disbursed ₦745.11 billion. Borno led at ₦161.91 billion, followed by Bauchi with ₦132.87 billion, Adamawa ₦128.81 billion, Yobe ₦115.45 billion, Taraba ₦112.60 billion, and Gombe ₦93.47 billion.
South-East states received a total of ₦650.02 billion, with Imo and Anambra topping the region at ₦151.96 billion and ₦150.03 billion, respectively. Abia got ₦125.18 billion, Enugu ₦123.21 billion, and Ebonyi ₦99.63 billion.
FAAC, which oversees the distribution of federally collected revenues, plays a crucial role in maintaining fiscal balance across Nigeria’s three tiers of government. The latest figures underline the continuing importance of oil revenue, population size, and economic activity in determining allocation shares.
