Dangote Hails Tinubu’s Vision Behind Eko Atlantic City
Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership in conceptualizing and initiating the Eko Atlantic City project, an ambitious urban development built to protect Lagos’ coastline and expand its commercial and residential space.
In a message made public on Wednesday, Dangote praised the President’s “foresightedness” in embarking on the project, describing it as a transformational legacy that has greatly benefited residents and businesses in Victoria Island. The 1,000-hectare Eko Atlantic City, shielded by an 8.5-kilometre-long sea wall, has not only halted ocean surges but also created new land for development.
“Your Excellency, this success story, which is now being used for residential, business, and recreational purposes, is amongst your many legacies, and those of us who live in Victoria Island are much better off for it,” Dangote stated.
He also lauded Tinubu’s efforts in addressing the perennial flooding challenges that have long plagued key areas in Victoria Island. He noted that the administration’s interventions have brought significant relief to communities along Ahmadu Bello Way, Akin Adesola Street, Bishop Oluwole Street, Amodu Ojikutu Street, Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Karimu Kotun Street, and others.
Dangote noted that the Eko Atlantic project is not only a feat of engineering but also a testament to forward-thinking governance and sustainable urban planning in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
