After AI Deployment, CAC Processes 10,000 Business Registrations Daily

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) says it now processes up to 10,000 business registration requests daily, following the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) across its platforms.

The Registrar-General, Hussaini Magaji, disclosed this in Abuja during CAC’s 35th anniversary lecture, noting that AI integration has transformed the commission’s ability to manage rising volumes of registrations and customer inquiries nationwide.

“Today, the Corporate Affairs Commission receives close to 10,000 business registration requests daily, compared to just a few hundred in the past,” Magaji said.

He added that CAC systems now handle an average of 5,000 customer inquiries daily through emails and call centres.

Magaji attributed the surge to recent tax reforms, government policies encouraging formalisation of informal businesses, and the rapid growth of digital and social media-driven enterprises.

He explained that CAC has evolved from a single manual office in 1991 to a fully digital, end-to-end corporate registry offering services globally on a 24-hour basis.

The AI-driven portal, introduced in 2025, initially faced challenges but is now delivering positive outcomes.

Lawmakers and regulators pledged support for the reforms. House Committee on Commerce Chairman Ahmed Munir promised legislative backing to deepen digital infrastructure, while NITDA Director-General Kashifu Abdullahi said, “We are in the era of artificial intelligence, and the only way to transform institutions today is to embrace and integrate AI.”

The CAC has also partnered with Google to strengthen its technology infrastructure, improve portal performance, and enhance service turnaround time.

New AI-powered tools include a legal assistant for regulatory inquiries and a business name generator to simplify reservations.
