BPSR, IMPR Partner on AI Communication Training for Public Sector Executives
The Bureau of Public Service Reforms has entered into a strategic partnership with Image Merchants Promotion Limited to organize a National Executive Training on Strategic Communication and Artificial Intelligence for Public Sector Communication Executives across Nigeria.
The collaboration is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional communication capacity, deepen public sector reforms, and equip communication managers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) with emerging tools and contemporary strategies for governance communication in the digital age.
Following high-level planning and coordination meetings in Abuja, BPSR officials and IMPR representatives, led by Mohammed Dahiru Lawal, Head of Special Projects and Investigation, reached the decision at the Bureau’s headquarters.
Under the partnership framework, the training programme will bring together communication executives from approximately 400 MDAs and other public institutions across the country for intensive sessions on strategic communication, information management, digital engagement, artificial intelligence applications, and public sector reform communication.
The programme, which is expected to hold in Kano State, was restructured into a single-location model to enhance operational efficiency, improve coordination, and ensure cost optimisation.
Speaking on behalf of the DG, Mallam Aliyu Umar, Head of Communication and Strategy at BPSR, emphasized that the initiative aligns strongly with the Bureau’s mandate to modernize public institutions and strengthen governance through improved communication structures and professional capacity development.
The Director-General of BPSR, Mr. Dasuki Arabi, is expected to serve as a facilitator during the programme and deliver a keynote session on the role of information managers in advancing Federal Government reform policies and institutional communication effectiveness.
As part of the implementation process, official invitation letters have commenced to relevant institutions and stakeholders nationwide. The letters are being sent to Federal Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Federal Medical Centres, Colleges of Education, State Ministries of Information, and other strategic public institutions expected to nominate communication executives for participation.
The program is scheduled for 27 July, 2026.
Additional participation is also being extended to officials from Jigawa State, including information managers and senior government communication officers.
The organisers disclosed that the training will feature both Directorate and Non-Directorate cadres in a combined executive learning framework designed to encourage knowledge sharing, peer engagement, and institutional collaboration.
The mandatory proposed training is expected to focus on practical communication leadership, crisis communication management, artificial intelligence integration, media strategy, public perception management, and reform-oriented messaging within the Nigerian public service.
Stakeholders at the meetings expressed confidence that the initiative would contribute significantly to building a more responsive, digitally aware, and strategically coordinated public communication system capable of meeting contemporary governance demands.
The partnership further reflects the growing recognition of strategic communication as a critical component of effective public sector administration and national development.
