Apapa Customs Generates N215bn Revenue in August

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, said it collected N215bn as revenue in the month of August using the Unified Customs Management System, also known as B’Odogwu, despite the reported network glitches.

This was contained in a statement on Monday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Tunde Ayagbalo. The Customs Area Controller of the command, Babatunde Olomu, described the collection as a product of increased confidence and continuous improvement of the B’Odogwu system.

“Our collection of N215bn using the B’Odogwu platform confirms progress in our ongoing journey to build a dependable platform for trade by Nigerians and for all those doing import, export, and excise business in Nigeria,” he said.

Olomu, while thanking the stakeholders and officers for their unrelenting support, stated that the August 2025 collection on the system was a testament to the resilience of officers whose patriotism has kept the system growing amidst challenges.

The CAC commended the stakeholders for their belief in the system’s capacity to meet the expectations of the trading community, especially those who do their import and export business through the nation’s premier port of Apapa.

The controller reassured all importers, exporters, licensed customs agents, and freight forwarders that B’Odogwu is on the verge of breaking through for greater success. He described their patience and support as invaluable contributions to the national economy and commendable efforts to support a homegrown ICT platform gravitating towards revolutionising trade in Nigeria through customs operations.

The Apapa Customs boss disclosed that the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has directed invigorated service from the ICT/Modernisation Department of the service to ensure steady and sustained improvement in B’Odogwu service delivery.

He expressed optimism that the platform is fully out to surpass user expectations and gain more confidence in the days to come. “This is a collective victory for all of us, and we shall continue marching forward for greater successes in days, weeks, and months ahead. We are braving all odds, and the sky is our limit,” he concluded.
