Air Peace to Begin London Flights from New Ogun Airport
Air Peace has announced plans to begin London flight operations from the newly inaugurated Gateway International Airport in Ogun State this summer.
The airline’s CEO, Allen Onyema, disclosed the plan during the airport’s inauguration, describing the facility as “one of the best-equipped in Sub-Saharan Africa.”
Onyema commended the Ogun State government for delivering the project, saying the airport is comparable to those in advanced economies.
“It is not just a building; it is everything you can think of that makes an airport an airport,” he said.
He confirmed that Air Peace has received approval from the Federal Ministry of Aviation to proceed with the planned international operations.
“We are coming here under the governor’s invitation to start London-Gatwick and London-Heathrow flights to Gateway International Airport this summer,” Onyema stated.
He added that Air Peace would ensure the facility is fully utilised, stressing that the project benefits not only Ogun State but the entire country.
Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo has also given the airline clearance to commence operations at the new airport.
The development marks a significant milestone for Ogun State’s aviation sector, positioning the Gateway International Airport as a hub for international travel and boosting Nigeria’s connectivity with Europe.
