Adokwu, Ajefu, 8 Others Emerge Leaders of SMECC Keffi Branch
Mr Sunday Adokwu and Ewache John Ajefu alongside eight others have emerged leaders of Saint Mathew Edumoga Catholic Community(SMECC) Keffi Branch in a keenly contested election to pilot the affairs of the Christian community in the next four years.
The election which was held at the premises of St. Mathew Edumoga Catholic Community Hall in Nyanya Gwandara in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa state was transparently conducted by the duo of John Ochigbo and Johnson Adoyi who were appointed Chairman and Secretary respectively of the electoral panel.

Mr Sunday Adokwu and Ewache John Ajefu were elected as President and Vice President and both hail from their local parishes of Mount Camel Ojapo and St Mathew Ojigo in Edumoga Ehaje, in Okpokwu Local Government of Benue State.
The election also saw the emergence of Mr. Idoko S. Godwin as Secretary General representing Holy Ghost parish Eke, the Chairperson was grabbed by Mrs. Janet Egaji of St. Peter Claver Parish Ai’abba, Vice Chairperson went to Mrs. Patricia Ogbanje also Holy Ghost parish Eke, while the Financial Secretary position rested on Mr. Michael Ochigbo of Holy name Parish Ugbokolo.
Others are Mr. Abah Benedict who was elected Treasurer of the group from St. Peter Claver Parish Ai’abba, the Assistant Secretary General was cornered by Mr Paul Chris Agbo from Mount Camel Parish Ojapo, the Bible Leader position settled on Prince Audu Usman of Holy Name Parish Ugbokolo while the position of the Public Relation officer/Provost went to Mr. Cletus Odeh representing St. Mathew Parish Ojigo.
As is the custom with the Christian community, the immediate past President of the organization automatically becomes the legal Adviser, and this also went with an ovation to Mr. Luke Agbo.

In his speech at the occasion, the Chairman of the electoral panel, Mr John Ochigbo thanked the Patron of the body, Mr John Olekwu and the entire members of the community for the opportunity given them to conduct free and fair election devoid of acrimony and noted that outsiders who had predicted rancor and confusion for the election were disappointed to see a transparent transition culminating in the officials’ oath of office.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the elected officials, the brand new President of the community, Mr Sunday Adokwu praised the members and the electoral panel for comporting themselves during the elections and promised to carry out all-inclusive administration that would be the envy of other communities, adding that transparency and accountability would continue to be his guiding principles in the course of his four years tenure.
