
President Muhammadu Buhari would soon address the nation on how much of the stolen public fund has been recovered. This was disclosed by the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, after an expanded national caucus of the party, called by the President to discuss issues concerning the party and the state of the economy.
The meeting, which took place on Tuesday night, was attended by Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and his deputy, Yusuf Lasun Others were National Leader, Bola Tinubu; Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Segun Oni, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, many serving and past state governors as well as National Assembly members. Odigie-Oyegun, while briefing State House correspondents said the recovered stolen funds would be expended judiciously through necessary legislative approval, as and when necessary.
He said the meeting discussed the challenges facing the APC-led federal and state governments. According to him, the meeting also deliberated on the more effective and efficient ways of implementing the 2016 budget, which was passed yesterday by the National Assembly. “As a party and as a caucus, we discussed all the issues and all challenges that have occurred since elections and decided on a course of action. “Basically, we are expecting the budget to be out and once the budget is out, implementation of our promises to Nigerian people will begin and these are all the issues or part of the issues which we discussed and that are critical to us, delivering on our promises to the people of this nation. So, we are waiting for the budget,” he said.
He disclosed that a committee had been set up to find solution to whatever crisis or grievances that members of the party may have “It was a very serious meeting that discussed serious issues that have to do with the progress of the party. “Skirmishes among party members are normal. We have set up a committee that is looking into all those issues and will resolve those issues,” he added. He stated that the APC-led government would take shape and work towards the implementation of its programmes. Odigie-Oyegun dismissed the insinuation that his position as APC national chairman was under threat. He said he was not aware that his office was under threat. He said: “I led the party to the State House. It amazes me, occasionally it annoys me. That is one of the things you have to endure when you are in a position like mine.”
