FHA, NUGA Commence Construction of 7,000 Housing Units in Abuja
The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has commenced the construction of a 7000 housing unit estate in Abuja as part of efforts to address the country’s housing deficit.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FHA, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, who led the groundbreaking of the FHA Golden Jubilee Estate at Mbora II District, said the estate will contribute approximately 7,000 distinct residential units to the housing inventory in the city.
He said the FHA and it’s partner, NUGA Best International & Regis Integrated Services Limited, will start with an initial 1,200 units.
He said the estate will be serviced with standard infrastructure that characterises FHA development.

“Within the framework of federal housing authority, we remain resolute in our commitment to advance the government’s housing delivery initiative, leveraging the potential of the construction industry to stimulate employment opportunities and foster economic diversification,” he said.
The chairman, NUGA Best International & Regis Integrated Services Limited Partnership (LP), Pastor Hillary Chukwuma, noted that the estate which sits on about 200 hectares of land is designed with plans for schools, hospital, recreation centres, markets, shopping malls, filling station, police station among others.
“One of the uniqueness of this estate is its location, sitting in Mbora District of Abuja, the everyday worker or business man will enjoy the quick access to the city center with the 1.6km road connecting the Estate to the popular Jabi link road, via the Federal Medical Center/Jabi route.
“The frequent travelers will also enjoy the quick access to the airport, via the 3.2km exit access to the Airport road through the Lugbe axis. Indeed, the estate is within the Mbora district, making it a shorter distance of 1.6km to the Jabi road. We are however using the Airport road corridor at the moment, while work takes off on the main Jabi/Mbora link road,” he said.
