
President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed Mr Ibrahim Waziri to replace Engr. Hamman Tukur as Chairman, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). The appointment takes effect from December 24, 2013.
Mr. Ibrahim Dahiru Waziri holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and an MBA from the University of Lagos.
Until this appointment, he was a non executive director of First Bank and was Managing Partner of Gulf of Guinea Petroleum Consulting Limited, a Nigeria-based consulting firm which offers professional expertise to diverse clients and interest in the country.
He also served as member of the Technical Committee on Expenditure Review that advised the Federal Government on enhancing value of overhead expenditure and reducing waste in government spending. Between 2003 and 2009, he was Group Executive Director, Corporate Services at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) where he provided oversight responsibility for the delivery of optimal human resource performance and logistics support for the corporation.
A fellow of the Institute of Directors (IOD), Ibrahim has a combined 30 years professional experience in politics, banking and oil and gas businesses. He was a member of the House of Representatives, representing Yola Federal Constituency in the Second Republic before venturing into banking as financial analyst and later as Manager, Conglomerates Finance Unit with International Merchant Bank Limited between 1984 and 1999. He later moved into the energy sector where served variously as Executive Director at the Nigeria Gas Company Ltd and the Pipeline and Product Marketing Company Ltd, Group General Manager, Human Resources in NNPC, Director Bonny Gas Transport Ltd and Deputy Managing Director Nigeria LNG Limited.
He has attended various local and International trainings, seminars and conferences including the famous Stanford University Executive Management Program, the Harvard University Advanced Management Program and the Oxford University Advanced Management Program. He is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School.
