FG Sets Up Committee For Mambilla Power Project
The Federal Government on Monday inaugurated a Project Delivery Committee for the implementation of the 3,050MW Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project.
Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, who also inaugurated an Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee on the project, said the Federal Government was collaborating with Taraba State Government to ensure the success of the scheme.
He explained that the ministry and the state government had already signed a Memorandum of Understanding to ensure that the project was implemented.
The Ministry of Power has commenced the sensitisation of host communities in seven local governments in Taraba, and is engaging land surveyors to demarcate the project areas and begin enumeration.

The Inter-Ministerial Committee, chaired by the minister, is to coordinate activities for the effective delivery of the project.
The Project Delivery Committee headed by Faruk Yabo will oversee the implementation of the project.
According to its terms of reference, the Project Delivery Committee will coordinate various activities being executed towards successful delivery of the project.
It will also provide technical leadership and guidance on business issues facing the project.
The committee was also charged with securing all necessary approvals required for the commercial viability and operation of the project in line with the requirements of the Nigerian electricity supply industry.
Yabo assured that the project, which was proposed about 40 years ago, would be finally implemented.
