Lagos Pays N1.55bn Benefits To 287 Retirees

Lagos State government has disbursed N1.559 billion into the Retirement Savings Account (RSA) of over 287 retirees in the state.The Public Affairs Officer, Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), Mrs. Adetokunbo Eko, told our correspondent, over the weekend, that the state has remained upbeat on the pension matters.

He said the Director-General of LASPEC, Mrs. Folashade Onanuga, disclosed this at the 67th retirement bond presentation ceremony in Lagos, adding that the state government has consistently been funding the accrued pension rights, otherwise the retirees would not be able to have access to the balance in the retirement savings account.She implored the retirees to go for regular medical checkup to maintain their mental and physical wellbeing at all times.

They were advised to spend their pension judiciously and not embarking on any business that will be stressful to their health.The workforce of Lagos State Pension Commission was also applauded for the transparent and organized way they perform their duties.
