KEDCO Seeks Media Collaboration on Service Delivery

Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) had on Thursday solicited the supports of the media to achieve its vision of becoming the best DisCo in Nigeria and Africa at large.

Ibrahim Sani Shawai, the company’s Head of Corporate Communication made this known in Abuja when he paid a courtesy call on some media outfits.

Shawai met with journalists from News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Dailytrust, Peoples Daily, Leadership, DailyTimes, and PR Nigeria and Economic Confidential.

Shawai’s first port of call was a courtesy call at the office of the publisher of PR Nigeria and Economic Confidential, where he met with Alh.Yushau Abdulhameed Shuaib.

Shuaib, an award winning PR practitioner and a prolific writer received the KEDCO’s Communication Officer and gave him some pieces of advice on how best to cement good relations with their customers.

Shawai while briefing newsmen reiterated that the media had always been a key stakeholder in the development of the power sector in the country, adding that his meeting with the media outfits was to strengthen that relationship and enhance the capacity of KEDCO to bridge the communication gap between the company and its customers.

“The media has been at the fore front of driving the course for a reform and the development of the power sector. They remain a key stakeholder in the sector that can’t be pushed aside.

“ Our being here as an organisation is to harness that potential and leverage on their wealth of experience to make the vision of KEDCO becoming the best DisCo a reality,” he said.

He said that the company would also get contributions on how best to smoothen relations with our customers with a view to bridging any communicative gap with its customers.

Shawai noted that the major challenge of KEDCO was the issue of non-payment of electricity bills, he appealed to the media to help out in that regard whenever the company comes calling.
