Again, Iran Closes Strait of Hormuz After U.S. Renewed Strikes

Iran has declared the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz, warning that any vessel attempting passage will be targeted, following fresh U.S. military strikes.

The announcement came from Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya military command, which said two ships trying to transit the strait were hit.

“Any vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz will be targeted,” the command stated via Tasnim news agency.

Iranian state media confirmed that the navy struck two ships it described as attempting to “illegally” pass through the waterway.

The closure follows a second consecutive night of U.S. airstrikes on Iranian targets, ordered by President Donald Trump.

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the strikes were carried out “in response to Iran’s unwarranted and continued aggression.”
U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth signaled more military action was imminent, saying “Central Command will be busy tonight because President Trump said we will be hitting Iran hard.” He added that bombs would continue to fall until Iran agreed to a deal acceptable to Washington.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical shipping lanes, through which a significant share of global oil exports pass. Its closure could have major implications for international energy markets and global trade.

The escalation highlights rising tensions between Washington and Tehran, with analysts warning that the confrontation could destabilize the Middle East and disrupt global supply chains.

Iran’s move, coupled with U.S. strikes, marks one of the most serious flashpoints in recent years, raising fears of a broader conflict if diplomatic channels fail to ease the crisis.
