Asagba Honours Tinubu Appointees as Tax Ombud Pledges Fairness to Taxpayers
The Tax Ombud and Chief Executive of the Office of the Tax Ombud, Dr. John Nwabueze, has reaffirmed his commitment to protecting taxpayers’ rights, promoting accountability, and advancing fairness in Nigeria’s tax administration system.
Speaking at a royal reception hosted in his honour by the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Prof. Epiphany Azinge, Dr. Nwabueze described the recognition as both humbling and inspiring.
“To be celebrated by my own people fills me with profound gratitude and joy. It reminds me of my responsibilities to my community and strengthens my resolve to serve with integrity and dedication,” he said.
He paid tribute to the Asagba for honouring sons and daughters of Asaba who have distinguished themselves in public service, stressing that appointments are “not for personal glory but for public duty. They are a call to represent Asaba well, to serve Nigeria, to serve humanity, and to ensure that government works for all Nigerians.”
Dr. Nwabueze commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for policies aimed at stabilising the economy and advancing institutional reforms.
He described the establishment of the Office of the Tax Ombud as a significant demonstration of the President’s commitment to fairness, accountability, and efficiency in tax administration.
The Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Azinge, praised President Tinubu for appointing distinguished sons of Asaba into key federal positions, assuring the President of the community’s continued support.
He noted that the civic gathering was part of ongoing efforts to promote unity, peace, and prosperity in Asaba.
Other honourees included Dr. Kene Omo, Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, and Dr. Chinedu Owunze, Permanent Secretary in the Delta State Government.
