‎Telcos to Compensate Subscribers with Airtime for Poor Service from Today – NCC

‎The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced that telecom subscribers will begin receiving compensation for poor quality of service from today.

‎Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Aminu Maida, disclosed this on Thursday during an ongoing media roundtable at the Marriott Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos. He said affected customers would start receiving compensation in the form of airtime either today or tomorrow.

‎Maida said the move followed the Commission’s directive to telecommunications operators to compensate subscribers over persistent service challenges.

‎He also stated that the NCC was working closely with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to address issues surrounding suspended credit airtime and data services. According to him, the intervention is aimed at ensuring that subscribers continue to enjoy seamless access to telecom services.

‎The NCC boss clarified that telecom operators, as licensees of the Commission, were not required to obtain additional licences from the FCCPC. However, he noted that organisations providing credit facilities to subscribers would need the necessary approvals.
