Edun Breaks Silence After Exit, Says Serving Nigeria Was an Honour
Former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has broken his silence following his exit from office, describing his service to Nigeria as “an honour and a privilege.”
In a farewell statement, Edun expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in the administration since 2023. He said the government inherited significant economic challenges but undertook reforms aimed at stabilising the economy and laying the foundation for sustainable growth.
According to him, key policy measures implemented during his tenure were designed to restore fiscal discipline, improve investor confidence and strengthen macroeconomic stability.
Edun noted that Nigeria’s economic growth improved during the period, while inflationary pressures began to ease, attributing the development to coordinated reforms and renewed confidence in the economy.
He acknowledged that major challenges still remain but expressed optimism that the country is on a stronger path toward recovery and long-term prosperity.
The former minister also thanked colleagues in government, development partners and Nigerians for their support throughout his time in office.
His departure comes amid recent cabinet changes by President Tinubu as the administration seeks to reposition governance and accelerate delivery on key national priorities.
