Tinubu Assures Nigerians of Improved Electricity Supply
President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration is addressing the persistent nationwide blackouts and working to improve electricity supply.
Speaking at the APC 4th Elective National Convention in Abuja, Tinubu acknowledged widespread complaints about power outages.
“I assure you, many of you lamenting the problems of electricity power. Yes, we are paying attention to that,” he said.
He revealed that the Grid Asset Management Company will inject 1,500MW into a new grid corridor as part of efforts to stabilise supply.
Tinubu also pledged improved funding for the electricity sector, linking reliable power to broader economic opportunities.
“Electricity will become better and be rest assured. There will be opportunity and progress in our industrial life,” he stated.
The assurance comes amid frustration over repeated grid collapses, with major incidents recorded in 2025 and 2026, leaving millions without power for extended periods.
Tinubu admitted that despite economic gains, Nigeria still faces legacy challenges, including debts to generation companies, gas supply constraints, and outdated transmission infrastructure.
The Grid Asset Management Company, established on March 4, 2026, was created to strengthen the sector’s institutional framework and manage assets more effectively.
